Google and Alexa PageRank System

When talking about online website, everything is always connected to the PageRank. It’s like the popularity rank of a certain website. When a website is said to have quite high PageRank or PR, the website is considered quite popular and it can determine the placement of that website within the search engine program. Everyone knows that when a website is included in the search engine program, it can be guaranteed to get lots of visitors and have increased popularity.

There’re two types of PR system being used now; one by Google and one by Alexa. Each type has its own characteristic. For example, Google PR is actually divided into two types: the toolbar Google PR and the real PR method. The toolbar PR is updated within every 3 months or between 2 and 4 months. The real PR is always updated all the time. No one knows for sure how and when it’s updated.  This PR system doesn’t affect the popularity of a website, actually. Lots of people say that when this Google PR is done, a website may have increased visitors or even lose them. The one that can really affect the numbers of visitors is the Google algorithm update, which is done every day. The system is very complicated and only Google knows the formula to do so. So, it’s not something easy to learn.

The Alexa PR system, on the other hand, is based on the traffic to a specific link. When Google is focusing on the page of a link, the Alexa system is more focus on the traffic. Lots of people say that this method is basically easier to do, but they also say that it’s pretty inaccurate. Well, people are free to choose whatever systems they feel the best for their system and websites, as long as they know the benefits and the flaws of each method.
